Book Description

11 Aug 2001
In response to the tremendous success of Good Faeries/Bad Faeries, Brian Froud has created an exciting divination kit that allows readers to draw on the power of faeries to understand their lives and predict their futures. Good Faeries/Bad Faeries, one of the most successful illustrated books in Simon & Schuster's history, established faeries as the favourite fantasy figures in America today. Now, Froud brings the appeal of his beautifully illustrated and evocative faeries, trolls, goblins, and green men to the popular practice of divination. A refreshing new approach to tapping into the connections between the natural world and the course of human events, this kit draws directly on the art and wisdom of Good Faeries/Bad Faeries and includes: An elegant, full-colour deck of sixty-six divination cards. An engaging two-colour book that introduces the most powerful an dimportant members of the faery kingdom; Easy to follow instructions on how to read the cards, with a special emphasis on gleaning answers to issues of spiritual enlightenment and personal direction; The Faerie's Oracle is sure to delight fans of tarot and other divination systems. Even those who spend their time speeding along the information highway are bound to be intrigued by the enchanted path the faeries unveil, a path that reveals the secrets of our souls and magically sheds light on things to come.

Amazon Review

In The Faerie's Oracle author and illustrator Brian Froud offers believers a chance to consult with the magical wee folks. Using a deck of 66 "oracle cards" believers conduct readings as if interpreting Tarot cards. Each of the cards feature Froud's signature faery pictures. Some of the cards have specific faeries, such as the naked leaping "Spirit Lancer"--a feminine card that represents "self-expression, freedom and exploration", according to the accompanying text written by Jessica Macbeth. Others are more abstract, such as the "Guardian of the Gate" a blue tinted card with splaying silver-white streaks that look like tendrils of faery hair.

This fascinating deck will keep Froud fans delighted for hours. Once seekers are ready to actually start communicating with faeries they will also be delighted with Macbeth's whimsical, yet highly informative guidebook. She is quick to sympathise with the self-consciousness that comes with talking to faeries, yet she also has the ability to jolly people out of their embarrassment. Macbeth is at her wisest when discussing how to ask for guidance and interpret specific layouts of oracle cards. But if you find yourself succumbing to giggles in the midst of all this faery woo-woo, take heart. Writes Macbeth, "Giggles are the grace notes of faery music." --Gail Hudson, Amazon.com

5.0 out of 5 stars enchanting 29 Jan 2002
Format:Hardcover
I've been interested in tarot reading for many years, but have never found cards that I felt totally at ease with, until that is, I was given these cards by my partner as a christmas present!.
As soon as I opened these cards I felt uplifted, the illustrations make you smile and feel filled with joy, but not only did I find them enchanting to look at, I found that the stories the cards unfolded were so easy to interpretate. An absolute must for anyone finding they can't read or are uncomfortable with cards they are currently using.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Faeries Want To Go Home With You! 4 Nov 2000
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Whether you are a beginning oracle reader or an accomplished sage, you'll find this book and card set are a pure delight.

The 200-plus page text by Jesa MacBeth skillfully weaves the reader into a faery tapestry of pure energy, divine spirits and absolute fun. For those readers whose experience has been limited to traditional Tarot, be prepared for an adventurous excursion into the enchanting world of faeries, including their incredible sense of humor!

MacBeth's explanation of faeries, their world and their feelings about humans are an education for those of us new to their realm. If you feel some trepidation in launcing into this oracle, don't! The book gently guides you every step of the way - - and believe me, the faeries will be cheering every step of your journey.

The art work, of course, is superb. Froud fans will love the unique faces and garb of his oracle population. Of the many groups of cards, my absolute favorites were "The Singers of the Realms" - - abstract paintings which depict the most beautiful, life-filled energy you'll see in an oracle. I don't think there's a card in the deck I like more that "She of the Cruach" - - the Great Goddess of nurturing energy.

When your deck arrives, sit down with a cup of hot tea. a biscuit for unseen guests, and an open heart. This is one oracle you'll return to time and again - - it speaks directly to the heart.
