The Eye of the Moon is every bit as violent and gripping as The Book With No Name was, but this is much funnier and believe it or not, probably more bloodthirsty!
The story jumps back and forth in time, although not to the point where it becomes confusing. The multiple storylines are here as before and with the backstory the author has also managed to bring back some of the best characters who didn't make it to the end of the last book.
The undoubted star of the show this time is the Bourbon Kid who gets much more time on the page. To reveal too much about the plot would spoil it, but the main theme is one of revenge, and extremely violent revenge it is too. There are many more twists in this installment, and many of the characters are not what (or who) they seem.
The stream of cliffhangers and short chapters carry the story along at a pretty fast pace until the crazy topsy turvy ending. Overall, an extremely easy read. Very funny and very nasty. In fact think "The Dark Knight" only with an even more messed up hero, and a much darker tone. Oh, and Sanchez who lightens proceedings with every one liner. Well recommended if you liked the last one.
