Album Description

This, the third part of Exotica’s Beatles trilogy, features many more classic Beatles songs interpreted in eccentric, but truly endearing ways. Including; Arthur Mullard’s cockney take on ‘Yesterday’, a nursery rhyme version of ‘I am the Walrus’, Frank Sidebottom’s ‘Flying’ and ‘Let it Be’ in a hillbilly style!

• The disc also contains interludes and introductions from The Beatles themselves as well as characters such as Noel Gallagher, Rolf Harris and Homer Simpson!

• The Exotic Beatles series are recognised as the most well researched and thorough Beatle related cover albums in the world!

For Collectors Only 4 Aug 2009
By Richard
Format:Audio CD
Such is the power of the Beatles name and image that 3 volumes were issued by Cherry Red called the Exotic Beatles.
They purposely went for the oddball and Outsider aspect by collecting most of the contents from contemporary LPs which would litter charity shops for years.Like LPs of fairground music and so so crooners like Dickie Henderson or non singers like Arthur Mullard.
Cathy Berberian is one of many the casual fan would regard as unlistenable. She was a trained singer who specialised in the avant garde and could probably clear a pub yet how many other opera singers would tackle Lennon & McCartney?
For her it was real and her LP Beatles Arias is now on CD in its own right.
David Peel is also an acquired taste and one of the few with a John Lennon connection. In his own right he cut 2 albums of Beatles songs and another was produced by Lennon.
Fortunately nothing outstays its welcome.I collect Beatles covers but very few Easy Listening ones unless they have good sleeves.
These 3 CDs have excellent sleeves and as collectables in their own right rate alongside the Beatlemanaics and Flabby Roads

Do you remember the Beatles? The musical group your mom and dad knew? You know, John, Paul, George & Ringo. 10 Jan 2007
By Johnny Heering - Published on Amazon.com

This is the third and last (so far) volume in this series of oddball cover versions of Beatles' songs. This one is arguably the craziest of the three CDs. Lots of weirdness here. Where to begin? A Japanese pop version of "Let It Be". "Ticket to Ride" sung by an opera singer. The fairground organ from the previous two volumes returns, this time playing "Help!" and "She Loves You". "With a Little Help From My Friends" sung by street singer David Peel. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" sung by a woman with a Yiddish accent. Both a Spanish and a German version of "Yellow Submarine". An Italian a cappella version of "Let It Be". A German death metal version of "Yesterday". An Indian version of "I Want to Hold Your Hand". A Moog synthesizer version of "Hey Jude". And much more assorted weirdness. Many Beatlemaniacs should get a kick out of this CD. Unless, of course, they have no sense of humor.

Stop Butchering Beatles Music 29 July 2000
By J. GENIO - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
If you want to hear Beatles tunes performed very poorly, then this is the CD for you. However, for the rest of us, this CD should be avoided. It will make you angry and disgusted.

Beatles music was never intended to be elevator MUZACK. Well, this is exactly what you have with this CD -- atrocious moog and flamingo guitars horribly arranged. After listening to this nonsense, I got the feeling that the performers intended to make a mockery of the Beatles music right from the start.

If John were alive today, he would never approve of such a butchering to his music. This is 24 tracks of unpleasent noise. Personally, I think that Paul, George, Ringo, and Yoko-san should sue these dorks on this CD for making a total mockery of the Beatles legend.
