Book Description

***A Standalone Space Opera***

'There is no doubt about it, Craig Saunders is one highly impressive author.' - David Conyers, author of The Harrison Peel Files, The Impossible Object and The Weaponized Puzzle.

'Original and thought-provoking.' - Colin F. Barnes, author of The Techxorist series, and SALT: A Post-Apocalptic Thriller.

Against the backdrop of an apocalyptic, ideological war spanning the universe, a ship, a hunter and a thief take on a quest to end the war forever: the search for the Cascade emitter.

The odds are high, but then the ship is Orpal, the most intelligent ship ever to sail the solar seas. The hunter is the greatest in the Suh’traeti galaxy. His name is Kyle, and he is not alone. The thief is Cetee, beautiful and more deadly than anyone knows.

To win, they must learn to work together. To survive, they must be lucky, too, because their enemies are legion.

And the prize? To lead the universe to Evolution.

*** With bonus material 'The Entrophy Conflict' by David Conyers.

A decent read with plenty of chewy SF conventions to get your head around. Mr Saunders does a great job with the characters and weaving the narrative of the respective story lines. I found it to be original and thought provoking. The beginning is perhaps is a wee bit slow, but once you get a couple of chapters in, it hooks you with the lyrical prose and interesting ideas. Definitely something different worth checking out IMHO.

I loved this book. The first few chapters reminded me of an Iain Banks story, like The Algebraist, with a complex back story and scene being set at a fair pace, however where that could require some back tracking to stay with it this settled down and combined both science fiction and fantasy with some great humour and terrific characters. Kyle reminded me a little of Pratchett's Cohen, whilst Orpal was a delight throughout in a way that Holly was in the classic Red Dwarf series. A few errors scattered around, more editor carelessness than story-line but easy to gloss over and by the end I was left hoping that Kyle, The Lu, Orpal and the rest of the team return to our planet one day for more adventures.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible 13 Jun. 2012

This is practically unreadable only managed about 5 chapters before I gave up. There's some intresting ideas but the style and flow of the writing is just
monotonousness, repetitiousness and boaring.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tedious 20 April 2012

When I first reviewed this book I was captured by the author's creative ideas. But after the first chapter I became weary of reading the excessively long, complex sentences. Though there are some interesting writing techniques, the story became too difficult to follow.
