5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually uplifting. 3 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
And, this was written centuried ago-? It is relevant for believers, today, and will continue to encourage us, till the Lord returns.
The collection is not exhaustive, but provides so much for so small a price. I urge you to read him: beginning with his 'Body of Divinity', a little each day. Follow this, if you will, by his 'Lord's Prayer'. Even the '10 Commandments' are a refreshing stimulus to godly living. And there is so much more...
Watson is surely the most readable/accessible of the Puritans. His words and phrases fall readlily from the lips. I'd recommend that you highlight, copy, and paste to a Word doc, resting - if you have a 10" laptop - behind the Kindle app. I know I have gatheres a 'library' of apt quotes from this one Puritan, to cherish all my (remaining) days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Collection of Books, Formatted Well 23 Mar 2012
By KEITH H PUGH JR - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Normally these "Works of" sets are not formatted well for Kindle, but not this one. There is a working table of contents AND a more extensive table of contents before each book (you can preview these if you first request the sample, like I did). Now wherever you go, you can carry with you the works of Thomas Watson, probably the most readable of the Puritans. These books will be incredible for quotes and "shares" on FB and Twitter. I hope the publisher of this Kindle book will format many more in the future (The Essential Works of Richard Baxter or Thomas Brooks would be a great next project).

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Great Puritan Theologians 4 Mar 2013
By Michael Finley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What is amazing is the theological insight of this great London preacher & theologian! For example, just the read we find on his explanation of the theology of the unity of the Godhead in the midst of the plurality of the Trinity, "The Three Who is ONE=the One who is THREE" & Thomas Watson's clear development of this Mystery in the,THEN, context of the theologies of confusion about this doctrine of Watson's time historically. And what a glimpse into early Quaker theology & confusion on the Doctrine of the Trinity! - MLF, Th.M., NT, DTS

5.0 out of 5 stars Beginning to Read the Puritans 21 Aug 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Watson is often called "the most readable of the Puritans," and justly so. He is like a wise elder brother giving counsel on the Christian life, using a warm and encouraging style. He is therefore a great place to begin in getting to know the Puritans and their pastoral care for the brethren.

Watson is wonderfully pungent and quotable. If you underline as you read, your pen will be kept busy.

While all of the works in this collection are top-notch material, "A Divine Cordial," (also called, "All Things for Good") is a comforting and reassuring place to begin. "A Body of Divinity" is Watson's commentary on the Shorter Catechism that accompanied the Westminster Confession of Faith, which attempts to incorporate the fundamental truths of Biblical Christianity in a brief, but thorough compass.

If you aren't familiar with Watson or the Puritans, Start Here. If you're serious about living the Christian life, you couldn't have a better friend than Thomas Watson.

5.0 out of 5 stars GreatPuritan! 22 Mar 2013
By Eddie Jonker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Thomas Watson was one of the brilliant Puritans of his day. Especially his comments on the Westminster Confession and the sermon on the mount, including the Sermons on the Law.
Thank you Amazon for publishing the works,
Eddie Jonker
