5.0 out of 5 stars Good, solid book 2 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have had this book for about two years and it is now well-worn and oily! It covers a wide range of tasks and has been written in a general enough manner so that if your bike is a bit different, from the one in the pictures, you will still know what to do.
The book also includes a lot of theory to how various things work, which really helps one's confidence when disassembling parts!
It is a very accessible book and I don't think that many people will outgrow it too quickly. I'd recommend it to anyone who is serious about learning how a bike works or needs a reference for routine maintenance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, informative book 5 Jan 2011
By Lauren
Format:Paperback
My partner purchased this book for himself through my Amazon account and received it promptly. He is a motorbike enthusiast and was keen to get a book like this to learn how to fix his own bike and restore a bike recently bought with the engine seperate.
He is very happy with it, it explains literally everything you need to know to repair and maintain your bike and learn how things work for example engine, brakes, electrics etc.
Overall, a very impressive, informative book, a must have for all motorbike fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent book but some experience required! 23 Dec 2008
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a pretty solid book on motorcycle repair and maintenance, with plenty of colour photographs and illustrations to back up the text.
It is probably better suited ( in my opinion) to people with a little prior knowledge and experience, than the complete novice.

The For Dummies book on Auto Repair( although designed more for cars) is better for those with no previous knowledge. I don't think they do a book specifically on Motorcycle Repair but a lot of the stuff in the Auto guide by them is applicable to Motorcycles, particularly diy servicing and general maintenance.

I know that when I started buying these types of books it was with servicing and maintenance in mind, so presumably that's what many other buyer's will be looking for as well.

This is a very good book for those who can already carry out basic mechanical work on motorcycles, and who want to tackle more complex issues.
