Having never had ferrets before I was desperate to get my hands on as much information as i could - did not want to do something that would endanger them or make them unhappy out of ignorance. I bought this book and it was great. Takes you through their background, different types, different behaviours, food, health and training. I felt well prepared when I got my two lil' fuzzies thanks to this book. But if you are getting ferrets for the first time don't limit yourself to one book, lots of information on the internet and from other books. You can never have too much information. This book is a great starting point.
If you are getting ferrets, please get them from a rescue. Please don't buy a kit - you really don't know what you are getting. Rescues do fantastic work and they deserve your support - so many great ferrets out there that need good homes!!! And they will be able to give you so much more advice than the books can give you, and you can keep going back to them about behaviours, tricks in giving your ferrets antibiotics etc. They are a wealth of knowledge. Please support them!!!!

I found this book a great read. I wanted to research more about ferrets before I bought one, and I will certainly be buying one regarding what this book has told me about them. I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about buying a ferret!!
