CD Description
This Andrew Maurice Gold was born in Burbank, California and began writing songs at the age of 13. By the early 1970s he was working as a musician, songwriter and record producer for many musicians. In 1975, Gold began his own career recording as a solo artist, releasing four studio albums in the 1970s and many more since then. The hit single "Lonely Boy" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as #11 in the UK chart, in 1977 and has, subsequently, appeared in many film soundtracks, including Boogie Nights & Water Boy. In 1983 Gold formed the band Wax with ex 10cc band member Graham Gouldman. Wax spent the next five years recording and touring experiencing global success that culminated in several top ten hits including ‘Right Between The Eyes’ and their biggest hit ‘Bridge To Your Heart’ which charted at #12 in the UK in 1987. In 2011 the sad news broke that Gold had died in his sleep at the age of 59 in Los Angeles. A great talent who will be sorely missed.
This 2 CD collection features tracks from Gold’s illustrious solo career as well as this from his time with Wax.

Format:Audio CD
I first noticed Andrew Gold as part of the Linda Ronstadt band along with Kenny Edwards etc, produced by Peter Asher. They all became a bit part of my life, educating me in the ways of the West Coast music. The songwriting, harmonies, arrangements and amazing guitar work from Andrew Gold and Waddy Wachtel in particular. The only Andrew Gold tracks I had until today were either on Linda's albums or on 70's compilations. This album is all I'll need now. Outstanding tracks are obviously Lonely Boy, Never Let Her Slip Away, Thank You For Being a Friend and others from his early period during and after Linda, but there are another couple of totally incredible and beautiful ones on this album - That's Why I Love You, Looking For My Love and some incredible instrumentalising (is that a word?) on Still You Linger On, which is breaking my heart right now as I listen, touching all sorts of raw emotions. Just brilliant! Whatever you decide, you'll be better for this one.

A superb showcase cd showing the brilliant talents of this great underated artist . great writing ,superb playing this guy knew how to write the perfect pop/country/rock/song and it is sad that we have lost such a talent.
From the well known hits to his later great work with Graham Gouldman there are some real other unknown treats here ,listen to One of them is me a slow burner of a song with the drums and guitar used to build to a great climax ,superb. Please buy this cd and sit back and enjoy the talent that Andrew Gold was ,thanks for being a friend.........

I have wanted an Andrew Gold compilation for a number of years. I remember my sister buying and playing the hit singles in the seventies and me borrowing (?) them. In those days you even played the b-sides (this is showing my age}. Given the very sad news last year of Mr Gold's untimely passing, this rekindled my memories of those times. I even found myself humming one of his old b-sides (also an album track) "Angel Woman". It was with this in mind that I IMMEDIATELY purchased this compilation as soon as i realised it had been released. What a unique opportunity to own his seventies output at a bargain price. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED - this is a great compilation. The hits (and "Angel Woman") are all present and correct and sound just as I remembered them. The music has aged really well and do not sound dated in the slightest. I even recognised some other tracks on playing the album - presumably these were played on the radio at the time but didn't covert to hit status. Highly recommended to say the least!!!

.....a collection of hits, one after the other!!
I loved Andrew Gold for " Never let her slip away" and bought this album to get this track. Traveling home from work in the car is a great time to listen to my music. Read more
