More About the Author

Susie Heath is a pioneer in the area of masculine/feminine dynamics, and relationship and intimacy using the power of music, dance and movement, NLP and mind technology.

"Dance and movement play a key role in rediscovering your feminine self. Whenever you want to make a change, it is essential that you activate and change your physiology, the way you walk, stand, move and breathe. Personal change is not solely a mental event - it involves the entire body."

Rather than promoting assertiveness training and the empowerment of women, Susie encourages women to explore and embrace the true potency and intrinsic beauty of their feminine energy. In turn, this empowers men in their greatness again instead of the macho, passive-aggressive or over-feminised behaviours that are all too common.

Susie is a professional speaker and facilitator of workshops both in the corporate and public sectors. A qualified Executive and Personal Life Coach, Clinical Hypnotherapist and dance and movement facilitator, she is passionate about creativity, communication and co-operation. A home-study course, DVD and audio accompany her "Essence" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous book - I wish I had this years ago. 15 Sep 2012
This is one of my favourite books - a guide that gives me permission to be a sensual, alive woman. It's written so beautifully and full of deep insights and interesting information. If I ever have a daughter then these are the messages that I would want to impart to her so that she could live her life from a balanced, connected and authentic feminine position. I think all women should read this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully profound book... 6 Mar 2012
By Ruby
I found Susie Heath's book, "The Essence of Womanhood" to be uplifting and profound - it's very rare for me to find a book that makes me laugh and cry in equal measure...

Dividing the book into seven chapters corresponding to the birth process itself, is a stroke of genius. It holds true to rebirthing a happier, more feminine, more centred you and to bringing to fruition a difficult, "laborious" project.

I know a lot of women are sceptical about "spirituality" but if you open your mind to her message and try out even some of the exercises, it can start to transform your life...

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read 19 Aug 2008
By S. King
This book is a sympathetic but powerful look at the art of being happy from a female and distinctly feminine perspective. It is packed with practical activities, many based around movement and dance, to help women take a break from striving and achieving in a masculine world and to re-connect with their feminine essence. Susie astutely recognises that masculine and feminine have different and distinct strengths that complement each other. In her coaching, she describes seeing many women who have decided that to compete in the masculine world, they have to be better and more capable than men. Worse, some women may have even bought into the Homer myth that all men are useless and can't be relied on. Unfortunately, Susie points out that as they become more masculine and critical of men, it makes them unhappy in their relationships and in being feminine. Although I read the book from a man's perspective (being one myself), I appreciate the value in a book that brings harmony and love to relationships (this book is about a woman's relationship to herself, her partner, her family, her workplace and her life). Actually, this is a book men should read; by understanding the feminine, we can come to be comfortable being masculine. Like Yin and Yang, each is undefined without the other.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last! 20 Aug 2008

Hallelujah! Finally, permission to stop trying to outstrip men and be women - and still fabulous! This is a great book for any women caught in the rat race, trying to do it all, be it all and wondering why men simply don't measure up.

It's not about being stuck in the dark ages; far from it - it's about being women and letting men be men so we all do what we do best and what makes us happy and balanced. What a revelation!

What a truly beautiful, thought provoking book. I've read the book three times now and have spoken about it widely to friends (both men and women!) as I feel Susie has truly captured what feminism is really about; it's not about us being in competition with men, I really feel that in order to make the most out of our lives, we need to 'find' ourselves again so we feel truly fulfilled as wives, mothers, lovers etc and that the men in our lives feel completely valued instead of being under threat! Thank you Susie for pulling together this book, sharing your wisdom with us and for giving permission to women to re-awaken our authentic feminine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful wonderful book!! 8 Oct 2010
Dearest Susie, how happy I am she wrote this book. I am learning so much about managing the polarity of my relationships with men, remaining in my feminine energy and how much when I want to get things done, I become this kind of 'achievement monster' and can become very intimidating and scary to the men around me. This book showed me how to balance out my masculine energies and allow the more gentle, surrendering, lovely, sexy, goddess type energy out. I would recommend this book to anyone who is finding life tough as a woman and finding a lack of expression or frustration/ irritation in your relationships. This is an awesome read. A surprising aspect to the book was that I have always loved to dance but this book gave me a whole new take on dance and how to release negative energy by 'dancing' it out. I was very fortunate to have met Susie at an event recently and she is as lovely in person as I would have imagined when I read the book. I cannot wait for her next installment on women in the workplace and how to manage their essence of womanhood.
