I read this book, mid way through my research for my MSc. and it changed my whole attitude to computing projects. It gives a very straight forward guide to completing a project successfully. I have read many books on this topic and this book is the most relevant and useful. I recommend it to anybody beginning a computing project or anyone at any stage of a computing project. I would class this book as one of the most invaluable tools to completing a substantial computer based project

Format:Hardcover
This is an excellent book for anyone undertaking a project, especially a computer project.

Yes it seems to be aimed at the student market but it has wider implications for anyone doing any sort of project or management report. Really good as a refernce, check list of things that needs to be done and when.

Certainly one to take out of the library even before you've got your project brief. If you've already started don't worry use it to check what you have done and what you have missed out.

Finally it's so compact, well laid out and easy to carry.

A bit thin... 13 Aug 2002
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book on the say so of one of my lecturers during my B.Sc (Hons) Computing Science degree. The first thing you'll notice about the book is how thin it is! I was expecting a weighty tome, but this fits in with the rest of the "Essence of.." series in being very slight.

Enough on the weight anyway...this book seems to be focused towards post graduates, and concentrates on research technqiues, and presentation of information. If you're doing an undergraduate course, see if you can read it in a library or bookshop before parting with your cash. I can honestly say that this book, whilst informative in parts, made no difference to my final degree grades.
