Very disappointed with the brevity of the book.I can't believe that this was all Charles ii dictated to Samuel Pepys.It seems very watered-down.Perhaps intended as a child's book.

I first read this in 1968, borrowed from the school library and loved it so much that I kept it in my desk for the entire year. All these years later, and it's still the best factual account of Charles II's escape, entertainingly and sympathetically written. A must for anyone interested in the Civil War!

In my writings about both King Charles I & II, I have learned much about not only them, but also the breed of dog they chose for themselves and perfected to be good hunting and family companions. All the reference books I have obtained from you have been very helpful and in very good condition, whether new or very very old. Thank you.
