Book Description

Susanna Miller loses custody of her eleven-month-old son, Tyler, but rather than turning the little boy over to her ex-husband and his new wife, she goes on the run. She dyes her hair, changes her name and escapes from Boulder, Colorado, leaving behind everyone she knows including Linc Sebastian, the man who has been her best friend since childhood and who knows her better than anyone. Susanna lands in Annapolis, Maryland, alone, frightened, and always looking over her shoulder for someone who might recognize her. Just as she's beginning to feel safe in her new surroundings, she stumbles across information that could save the lives of many people . . . if she's willing to take it to the police. But going to the authorities means revealing her identity, admitting her guilt, and worst of all, losing her son.

More About the Author

Award-winning author Diane Chamberlain, was born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, and attended Glassboro State University. She also lived for many years in both San Diego and northern Virginia, where she still resides.
Diane received her master's degree in clinical social work from San Diego State University.

Prior to her writing career, she was a medical social worker at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego and Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. She also was a psychotherapist in private practice in Alexandria, Virginia., working primarily with adolescents. Diane's background in psychology and her work in hospitals has given her a keen interest in understanding the way people tick, as well as the background necessary to create real, living, breathing characters.

Several years ago, Diane was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which has changed the way she works: she occasionally types using voice recognition software. She feels fortunate that her arthritis is not more severe and that she is able to enjoy everyday activities as well as keep up with a busy travel schedule.

When not writing, Diane enjoys fixing up her house, playing with her three-legged Bernese Mountain Dog, Bruin, getting together with her friends and grown stepdaughters, and singing with an interfaith gospel choir.

Diane is the author of the bestselling Midwife's Confession. Her new book Keeper of the Light is out in January 2012

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting story 22 Aug. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This was the first Diane Chamberlain book I had read and I loved every minute of it.
The story was fast paced and gripping, I loved every one of the characters and the story was excellent.
The premise of the story got me hooked, but the twists along the way kept me hooked until I had read it in just a few sittings. The Twist towards the end was a work of genius, totally unexpected but fit perfectly in the storyline!
After finishing the book, I found myself missing the characters, the sign of a thoroughly good read!

A good recommended read by a friend. It was an extremely well written, emotionally moving story, with a bit of intrigue and suspense included. You feel for every woman and child who have ever been in this situation and who have suffered the consequences.

Rarely does one read a book that "stays" with you. This was one such book for me. Ms. Chamberlain writes a beautifully, poignant story of one woman's journey to overcome adversity. One cannot help but feel compassion and support for the main character, Susanna as she's always looking over her shoulder wondering if and when law enforcement will find her; as well as her inner, personal struggle in becoming a strong, self-reliant, woman, especially at the climatic end of the story.

Now living in Maryland Susanna is finding it hard, she is constantly looking over her shoulder with fear that they have been found, and she is missing her partner Linc very much, especially as there is a strong possibility she may never see him again.
