Well, I give this five stars, but I'm deeply prejudiced, having worked on the series for three and a half of our four years. To be part of that team was a joy. Rarely has a TV series ever had such outstanding people involved on every level and I don't think any series has ever faced such challenges as we confronted. I wish we could do it all again (minus Edward's heart attack). My best to all of the fans. And thanks to the great UK team that has made this available.

The Equalizer - Season Two [DVD]

Anyone who has the season 1 playback release will know it was slim cases in a card box. That is my favourite type of DVD Boxset packaging, but season 2 is the bookstyle packaging in a plastic case. I think opinions are really split as to which is the best, but both are great space savers. You get a booklet with this season 2 fabulous release with very long info on every episode. I have listed the episodes below and which discs they are on.

The Equalizer Season 2 - (October 8th, 1986 - May 27th, 1987)

Disc 1:

1) Prelude
2) Nocturne
3) A Community of Civilized Men
4) Joyride

Disc 2:

5) Shades of Darkness
6) Nightscape
7) Counterfire
8) The Line

Disc 3:

9) Tip on a Sure Thing
10) The Cup
11) Heartstrings
12) High performance

Disc 4:

13) Beyond Control
14) Carnal Persuasion
15) Memories of Manon - Part 1
16) Memories of Manon - Part 2

Disc 5:

17) Solo
18) A Place to Stay
19) Coal Black Soul
20) First Light

Disc 6:

21) Hand and Glove
22) Re-Entry

It's been almost four years since season 1 was released, but at least season 2 is finally in my collection. I just hope the remaining two seasons are released well before 2016.

I was so pleased when the second series of this show finally became available to purchase on DVD, I was beginning to wonder if it would ever happen considering it was four years since the first season was released.

I have very fond memories of watching this when it was shown on late night televison (ITV) in the late eighties(?!), and still remember sitting up in bed, in the dark (with the volume turned down as not to wake the rest of the family!).

I loved the theme tune, to this very day I consider it one of the greatest ever from a television show; I thought that Edward Woodward (a name once described by Sir John Gielgud as sounding like a fart in the bath), and the idea of this well dressed slightly older man being able to kick ass was so cool.

I loved the idea of him having a fascinating past, and found the gritty realism so different. I also remember loving the synth music from throughout the show, and looking back now it is very much representative of the eighties.

The show still very much holds up to todays scrutiny; the image and sound quality on this second series appears to be better than that of the first series (even though I was willing to forgive that to finally possess the series!).

One again nicely packaged, with a well produced booklet; although it is not necessarily quite as cheap as I would like I do feel it is worth it, firstly for the memories, secondly for the quality, and thirdly you are getting nearly seventeen hours of entertainment. The third series is due to be released on the 31st December 2012, hopefully the fourth and final series will be available not too long after that!
