Product Description

From the Back Cover

It would be impossible for most of us to spend a day without coming into direct or indirect contact with dozens of people – family, friends, people in the street, at the office, on television, in our fantasies and fears. Our relationships with others are the most changeable, infuriating, pleasurable and mystifying elements in our lives.

Personality types, based on the ancient system of the Enneagram, will help you to enjoy more satisfying and fulfilling relationships in all areas of your life by introducing you to the nine basic personality types inherent in human nature. This knowledge will help you better understand how others think and why they behave as they do, as well as increasing your awareness of your own individual personality.

Written by the leading world authority on the Enneagram, it offers a framework for understanding ourselves and those around us, as well as a wealth of practical insights for anyone interested in psychology, counselling, teaching, social work, journalism and personal management.

'This 350 page book is well documented. It has a bibliography, credits and index. If you like to classify people, you should know how current psychology is handling the subject. It is interesting reading.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best book about the Enneagram 25 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This book is one of four that I have read on the topic. To me, it is the best researched and least influenced by personal opinion of the four. It introduces the reader with enthusiasm, but gives the sceptics their due (as the Enneagram is a semi-scientific psychological model). Should be read like any "normal" book, but the middle section can be tackled in random order. Describes the 9 personality types well, with good practical examples (and states that all views are subjective). If anyone has heard about the Enneagram, this is probably, if not THE best book to start with. The subject is fascinating and is presented for what it is: a good guide to psychological profiles.

5.0 out of 5 stars In-depth psychological profiles 1 Nov 2000
By A Customer
Having attended classes on the Enneagram and been amazed by the accuracy embedded in this system of personality typing, I bought this book. Initially I found it difficult to distinguish between all the types and variations within, but the more I learned at the class and from other books aimed at beginner level, the more I began to appreciate the depth and scope of this book. It is definitely the most comprehensive that I have read on the subject. The insights are breath-taking and Riso explains it all in a very accessible way. Not one for the beginner, but definitely one for those who want a more detailed investigation into the nine psychological profiles.
