5.0 out of 5 stars The Energy Age 13 Jun 2006
Format:Hardcover
Finally!! A book that answers the need to have a clear understanding of the issues surrounding all energy sources. It is clearly written, and well organized. It explains the physics and facts without being boring or difficult to understand. This is a perfect resource for all households.

This is a great book, don't get me wrong. The author has spent what must have been years researching energy use and production. An easy read throughout, it is let down by a single thing: poor editing. All too frequently, words are either missing or repeated. Furthermore technical units are used and abused - this is a great shame. Simple copy editing by a secondary school physics teacher (like me!) would have picked up most of these errors.

That said, the primary content is well put together and up to date. Obviously this is a rapidly-moving field, but I would consider its purchase useful for the next 3-4 years. After that date it would be in need of revision. Peak Coal, for instance, is a relatively new phenomenon which it ignores.

Thanks, Robert, for putting everything together in one volume. It is appreciated - if only our politicians could read!
