What can I say? This set of (two) books truely bridges the gap between Oriental and Western medicine. It explains the action of herbs, looking at them from various perspectives, mainly TCM, but also Greek , native American, Ayurvedic and (European) Wise Woman healing traditions and more recent alternative healing disciplines such as iridology and homeopathy. .The really nice thing for me, in this set of books, is that it translates the TCM action of herbs and disease patterns into a European understanding of symptoms and diseases. For someone not schooled in TCM, this materia medica offers the chance to get some grip on the systematic explanation of symptoms and disease processes. There are a great number of incredibly in-depth Indexes on symptoms and herbs. Just an excellent set of books to have for anyone interested in herbal healing.
