More About the Author

Rosamunde Pilcher has had a long and distinguished career as a novelist and short story writer, but it was her phenomenally successful novel, THE SHELL SEEKERS, that captured the hearts of all who read it, and won her international recognition as one of the best-loved story-tellers of our time. Her bestselling novels, SEPTEMBER and COMING HOME, were made into television films. WINTER SOLSTICE, her most recent bestseller, was also made into a television film. In 2002 she was awarded an O.B.E for services to literature. She lives near Dundee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fantastic Read By An Ace Storyteller 29 May 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Rosamunde Pilcher's The Empty House is another heartwarming story about how a widow, Virginia Kelie returns to Cornwall with her children and how whilst there she meets again the handsome farmer she left behind all those years ago. Once again, Rosamunde Pilcher manages to makes us all laugh and cry and experience many emotions. The Empty House is a book which one surely shouldn't miss!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read 20 April 2012
By Charlie
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As a long-standing devotee of Rosamunde Pilcher I was not disappointed with this novel.
She has a particular style and her writing is a joy to read - also, of course, she tells a good
story. In paperback, it is particularly good for reading in bed or slipping into the handbag
for quiet moments when left waiting!

3.0 out of 5 stars bit predictable. enjoyed it but not her best one of hers I've read.
A good holiday read as shorter than most. The over sixties would empathise more with Virginias confused feelings and doubts
