3.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Edition For Your Kindle 20 April 2011
By Sara
Format:Kindle Edition
This was my first purchase on my Kindle and on the whole I enjoyed the book and found it easy to understand. The biggest disappointment is when you get to "How do I take the Test?" and it explains you need to "Take off the dusk jacket off your book, and you will find a code printed on the reverse side. You will see a unique ID code printed there specifically for you" it then tells you how to take your emotional intelligence test using this unique code on the website.
Ok, you don't have to take the test but it helps your understanding and when I buy a book I expect to be able to appreciate it in total. I was more annoyed when I googled the difficulty and found that there is a second edition that does enable a Kindle user to get the code! Why are Amazon selling a first edition on Kindle????

5.0 out of 5 stars Boost your EQ 14 April 2009
By Rolf Dobelli TOP 500 REVIEWER
If you had to select the person you think is "most likely to succeed," how would you go about making your choice? According to authors Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves, you'd miss the mark if you based your choice on educational achievement, intelligence or experience. The main criteria, instead, is a set of social skills known as "emotional intelligence (EQ)" that helps people interact effectively. When you're emotionally intelligent, your emotions work for - not against - you, and you are respectful and mindful of other peoples' feelings. Even the most emotionally challenged people can boost their EQs by practicing the skills this book outlines. It offers specific examples of how to bring emotional intelligence to bear in a variety of situations at home and at work. getAbstract recommends this book to those who want to use emotional intelligence effectively.

4.0 out of 5 stars It does exactly what it says... 30 Dec 2009
Having been introduced to the core concepts of Emotional Intelligence, I wanted to explore a little more and bought this book to accomplish that. I am really pleased I did. This book lives up to its title and takes you on a simple, yet informative, journey through the concepts of Emotional Intelligence. From the start of the first chapter where you are introduced to the story of Phineas Gage through to the final chapter on using EI at home the book provides interesting, useful and applicable information on how to develop, grow and use EI. The version I bought also included the opportunity to take the online EQ test, which was insightful.

I recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars good read 30 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
It is a good introduction to emotional inteligence for people (like me) who did not know what the term means. The book is easy to understand, you can read it quickly and it comes with an only emotional inteligence test for you to take.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good source of info 21 Aug 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I was advised by colleagues and line manger that I had a gap within my interpersonal skills which would need to be resolved before I had a chance toadvance my career.

Speaking to my HR function abouit this, I was advised that the issue lay wih my 'emotional itelegence' and that I should seek some coaching to improve this aspect of my personality. Part of this coaching included reading the EI Quickbook.

The book comes with an online assessment tool plus further training to hone theEI skills which was quite invluable.

The book itself uses tequneques based around real life situations. I found this method gave me the ability to match my weaknesses to the examples given thus helping me to change my processes to enhance my EI.

A very good item to have in the toolbox. I am glad bought it, and find myself refering back to it as and when I notice a 'bad habbit' creaping in.
