This is a great collection of TDs later works. OK, it's been pulled from their vast collection of albums, but for me that's what has made this so useful. In seeking to update my TD collection beyond the middle years, I've been bewildered by what to choose. I purchased Seven Letters from Tibet before I got this set and I liked that one. I then purchsed Madcap's Flaming Duty and it was awful. Unwilling to waste huge sums on full price albums, this collection has enabled me to see what TD have been up to and which sounds I like best. This will help me to choose which albums from the later years I want to purchase in full.
The only disc in this set I don't like much is the Dante Song Collection, but even that had it's good points.
As a collection of music this set in eminently listenable in it's own right. It is varied and interesting. From the gentle and delicate strains on Seven Letters to the 70's style electric guitar and Sax on the Starbound Collection, there's something for every mood. The Silver Siren collection even has some sounds which are very reminiscent of mid-years TD, such as Tangram and Force Majeure.
There is a paucity of information on the sleeves. It would have been helpful to have dates/original albums etc. but the information is easily found on the internet, given a bit of time.
For the price this collection is fantastic value. It would be good value if it were only 3 discs, but for 10, well there really is nothing you can complain about.
If you like TD and want a selection of later work, this set really is a must-have.
