5.0 out of 5 stars Glorious package to play through before Skyrim! 3 Jan. 2012
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:5th Anniversary Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I got Oblivion years back on the Xbox and to be honest it just didn't do it for me. But I constantly promised I would go back to it as people have consistantly had so much praise for it. I was keeping my eye out for PC compilation that included the two expansions and they were suprisingly hard to come by before the release of this anniversary edition. For less than £20.00 for the whole lot you simply can't argue with the value for money if you are yet to play this game. Yes, it may be a little aged compared to it successor Skyrim, but it's simply a great and vast game that needs to be explored and played. Just be prepared to give it some time to allow yourself to get into it.

My idea is to continue to play this to death, then move on to Skyrim which by that time should have lowered sufficiently in price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece!! 21 April 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The second best RPG EVER (in my opinion) only surpassed by Skyrim. Gorgeous scenery, total sandbox. You can do anything you want, in any order. Only slight gripe is the pesky oblivion gates popping up all over the map whe you get past a stage in the main quest - I delayed that for months - the other quests are much more interesting. A life changing RPG!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best RPG 26 Aug. 2012
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:5th Anniversary Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is great! Probably one of the best RPG's i've ever played.
This game offers hundreds of hours og gameplay, the main questline can be completed fairly easy and fast, but the real fun with this game is exploring gigantic world and hundreds of alternative quests.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5th years old but still good!! 3 Jan. 2013
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:5th Anniversary Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Oblivion is a true open world game- you can spend hours doing sidequest before even attempting to start the main story. Containing a great storyline with a healty dose of action has made this agame a cult classic. The beuty of Oblivion lies in the amount of Mods available to the player - kill-cams, HD mods, custom races, brand new quests - even a re-write of the entire game is available (google nexus mods) make this game better looking than games released in 2012. Skyrim took a lot of ideas from the oblivion mods - you were able to ride dragons in oblivion before the latest skyrim expansion pack. Pick up the game - have look at the mods and you'll never get bored of this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where the elves dwell 4 Mar. 2013
By Marc TC
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:5th Anniversary Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I am going to add my two cents and review this game, it is never late if the deed is good as they say:

THE CHARACTERS
Like the Lord of the Rings, Oblivion features the usual suspects for an RPG: elves with pointy ears, brutish orcs and the noble (ahem) humans. The problem is that they are a robotic bunch and I certainly never connected with them emotionally, unlike other games that have engaging characters, like Dragon Age for instance. Also the dialog is very direct and in your face, so don't expect a subtle plot like in The Witcher 2, for instance.

GAMEPLAY
Well there are countless quests in this game - you can solve them as a stealthy assassin or thief, as a warrior with a taste for the frontal assault or you can imitate Harry Potter and play a mage. Also there are unscripted events all over the place, you may encounter an Imperial Legion patrol attacking a group of bandits, and once they are beaten you can take their loot! This game was my favourite pastime on so many Sundays, and my first playthrough lasted almost 100 hours! After that, I downloaded a couple of user mods and I began another game with a new character - read on to find out which mods I picked.

THE WORLD
It certainly is a fully interactive and realised world - from the movement of tree branches in the wind to the flow of water in the rivers. My exploration of the world did yield some breathtaking moments, such as watching a sunset on a hill, with the great white tower of the Imperial city in the background. Also I caught rare plants to add to my list of alchemy ingredients, became a vampire and bought a horse and a house - so many were the possibilities in this game world. And it all truly came to life thanks to the great graphics and Jeremy Soule's wonderful music.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Full Package 2 April 2013
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:5th Anniversary Edition|Verified Purchase
I already had Oblivion and Shivering Isles, but I wanted the Knights of the 9 expansion. This brand new 5th Anniversary edition with both expansions cost me less than the Knights of the 9 alone - so a real bargain. If you've played Morrowind and enjoyed it, you will
love this game too. Sadly the flying over the landscape is not available with Oblivion, or it's successor Skyrim. Open world game where you choose what to do next,. Magic, potions, alchemy, battles, creatures etc.,. I've never got the hang of the horse riding (presumably it was a console game adapted for PC) but you can fast travel to known locations if you don't want to hack across the landscape. You will miss out on quite a lot if you do though. It works fine on my Win 7 machine and XP machine too. Sean Bean and Patrick Stewart do a couple of the voices, but the other voices are fairly banal. My brother will get my old Oblivion DVDs as he's also hooked on them. Skyrim next year when I've completed all the quests I think.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Game 6 Aug. 2013
By SimonDS
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:5th Anniversary Edition|Verified Purchase
Its a great game and a nice change from playing Skyrim. I prefer the lighter atmosphere.
However the reason it isn't 5 stars is because the graphics are out of date, and so to fully appreciate the game, I recommend you download nexus mod manager, and download some HD texture mods, and a face mod, which makes the faces look respectable.
With the mods to improve the graphics: 5 stars
