There are 10 prints in each of the five Portfolios in the series covering Egypt. Since there were 124 plates in David Roberts's original "Egypt and Nubia" I would have thought it possible for the American University in Cairo Press to have selected 50 different prints for their Portfolio series. But alas not so. I purchased two - "The Egypt Portfolio" and "The Luxor Portfolio" only to find 3 duplications. Fair enough, I suppose, for the "Egypt" portfolio to have a pot-pourri of prints - 2 of the Sphinx (and pyramids), 3 of Luxor, 2 of Abu Simbel, and 1 each of Karnak, Edfu and Philae - but was it really necessary to include the same three of the Temple of Luxor as in "The Luxor Portfolio"?
"The Egypt Portfolio" has the following prints (as encountered going up the Nile):
The Sphinx Seen from the Front
The Arrival of the Simùn in Giza
The Colonnade of the Great Hypostyle Room in the Temple of Karnak
The Temple of Luxor Seen from the Nile - also in The Luxor Portfolio
The Façade of the Great Temple of Amun at Luxor - also in The Luxor Portfolio
The Obelisk of Rameses II at Luxor - also in The Luxor Portfolio
The Temple of Edfu
The Interior of the Temple of Isis on Philae
The Arrival at the Temples of Abu Simbel
The Colossi of Rameses II at Abu Simbel
"The Luxor Portfolio" has the following prints:
View of the ruins of Karnak at sunrise
The great courtyard of Karnak and the column of Taharqua
The nave of the great hypostyle room at Karnak
The Temple of Luxor Seen from the Nile - also in The Egypt Portfolio
The Façade of the Great Temple of Amun at Luxor - also in The Egypt Portfolio
The Obelisk of Rameses II at Luxor - also in The Egypt Portfolio
The Colossi of Memnon at sunrise
The Colossus of Rameses II in the Ramesseum
The temple of Medinet Habu at Thebes
The temple of Ptolemy IV at Deir el-Medina
The other three in the series covering Egypt are "The Pyramids Portfolio", "The Nile Portfolio" and "The Cairo Portfolio". There is also "The Sinai Portfolio".
