They Mean It! 11 Feb 2008
Format:DVD
One of the most underated and original bands to come out of the West Midlands....ever!Too committed to compromise, too dedicated to quit! The Edgar Broughton Band return with the original powerhouse trio members plus Edgar's son Luke on keys and the superb Andrew Taylor on guitars to give a spirited and rousing performance of some classics from their catalogue down through the years.Prepare for some sonic attack and also some soothing rhythms....but always thought provoking lyrics no matter what the speed of the song.
Good tight performances and a crisp production make this a must for any Broughtons fan.It was certainly a lucky day when the idea of this Dvd was mooted....and came into being.I get bored hearing about the committment and integrity of bands like the Clash etc...these guys were walking the walk and talking the talk the first time round...and they still mean it now!
Watch out for a new album and catch them live if you can. After all,it's not everyday you can listen to some living legends! Enjoy!
Ps.It's worth the price of the dvd just for "Why Can't Somebody Love Me" and "Out Demons Out" alone.Great Stuff!

I wasn't quite sure about this one as they are getting on a bit and a bunch of pensioners trying to rock would be a bit much but I was blown away by how good this DVD is.

opening with Evening over Rooftops which was a bit slow compared to previous versions I'm used to but then it goes into Anthem which has always been a fav of mine and the extra bits in it are awesome!

you'll need a couple of Jack Daniels or Jamesons (or whatever floats ya boat) to really get into the Moth but it is mesmerizing! the 3 piece doing Love in the Rain is great but the sound of his guitar could been a bit more "RAWK" Live Hits Louder version will always be my fav!

the slight update to American Soldier was well timed and still works!

Ok Ed's voice isn't quite as raw as it used to be but it still has power, and he doesn't jump off the stage and run around like he used to but the songs are classics and the band play real tight with just a bit extra to each song to make the whole gig feel like an favourite old friend with an excellent bottle of whiskey to share!

this is probably the second most played DVD in my collection topped only by Rory Gallagher @ Montreaux!

If you've never heard them get a "new & used" cheepy and then buy all the albums; starting with Bandages, Inside Out and then Parlez vous English! you won't be disappointed!

Tracklist:

1: Evening Over Rooftops

2: Anthem

3: Speak Down The Wires

4: The Moth

5: Why Can't Somebody Love Me

6: Refugee

7: Momma's Reward

8: American Boy Soldier

9: Homes Fit For Heroes

10: Dr Spock

11: Love In The Rain

12: Revelations

13: Hotel Room

14: Last Electioneer

15: Out Demons Out

great dvd from a great under-rated band 5 Feb 2010
By Joseph L. Kolb - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
i love the edgar broughton band and this is a great find! if your a broughton fan, this is a must own. great picture and sound quality. the band plays both new and old songs. i've alway felt edgar broughton was an under-rated band. for the most part, you either love them, or hate them. if you have their cds, this dvd is well worth having even if they all aged a bit and have his son playing with them. some band you don't want to age, or ever quit releasing music. the broughton band is one of those groups. this release is available as a cd too, if you just want the music.

Coolest Video Ever. 5 Aug 2008
By Steve Zubal - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased this video in June 08 and I've watched it a dozen times or more in a couple of months, its that good. I just love it! Currently the song titles aren't listed...They are, in this order : Evening Over Rooftops, Anthem, Down The Wires, Moth, Why Can't Somebody Love Me, Refugee, Momma's Reward, American Boy Soldier, Homes Fit For Heros, Dr. Spock, Love In The Rain, Revelations, Hotel Room, Last Electioneer, And of course! Out Demons Out. Bonus features : Back stage interview, Green Lights (Unplugged), Photo gallery. The original band of Edgar and Steve Broughton and bassist Arthur Grant are complemented with Edgars' son Luke on keyboards plus Andrew Taylor who plays guitar, tambourine and harmonica. The camera work, editing and sound are all top notch. There are no detractors...only that you'll wish it was twice as long! The show was recorded in Germany on 3/24/06 and during the interview they mention that hopefully they'll be releasing a disc of newly recorded material...so far this has not materialized. Remember though this band is exactly what the establishment seeks to suppress. Lets hope the music gods smile upon them! The band that is! Buy this video and you'll be the one who's smilin'. P.S. The version of Love In The Rain on this DVD is the best, you can hear the Hendrix influence pouring out of Edgars' Stratocaster? Telecaster?, it'll chill ya' to the bone! PEACE
