Carmel were a brilliant little band as a three piece who were never overpowered by expanded big band arrangements. Carmel McCourt's voice was clearly their biggest asset but as a voice/rhythm section combination they were a genuine band no matter how many or few other musicians joined them on stage or in the studio. It is c shame that they were so far ahead of their time. Had they emerged within the last five years they would have dominated the globe by now. You just need to look around at all the women in the current charts, Adele, Duffy etc, to see that this would have been a far better time for Carmel to come onto the scene.
Songs such as More More More, Bad Day, Willow Weep For Me, Tracks of My Tears... make this a really compelling album.
