Without a doubt this is one of the strongest of the Harry Bosch books: dark, moving, thoughtful, full of twists and turns. It has got a great story - two of them in fact because Harry is juggling two very different cases - and a host of intriguing characters - Kiz Ryder, Irv Irving, David Chu from previous novels and new ones like Hannah Stone. Also, Connelly writes in a clipped,no nonsense, but evocative style that propels the narrative forward at a tearing pace. When Michael Connelly is at his best no one can beat him. Highly recommended.
