First Sentence
The song of the high grass, the twinned lamps of the arcing moon, the whisper of stars and the darker moon we must always remember-these are the guides on the first of the journeys to a time past remembrance, past the words for time into the Namer's country where we venture in dreams. Read the first page

This book puts all the other Dragonlance books into place. 3 Feb 1997
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is a collection of stories about the Dragons of Krynn(another similar book by TSR), and explains many events and myths that pop up in other books. Auroras Egg was an especilly informative tale about the birth of the dragons. There are many well written stories in this book by many different authers, and If you are just starting to read Dragonlance books, and are confused as to what everyone is talking about, read this book now
Excellent Anthology 26 Mar 2005
By R. G. Somebody - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The Dragons at War is an excellent anthology set in the world of Krynn during various time periods. The impressive array of authors have written countless books in the setting, and their short stories are nothing short of remarkable in this collection. Each story shows a different facet of the great wyrms of Krynn, including the original 10 created by Paladine and Takhisis, draconians, dragon riders, dragons in mortal guise, the treachery of the evil, and the gentleness of the good. If you read this collection you will laugh at the whimsical tales, such as The First Dragonarmy Engineer's Secret Weapon by Don Perrin and Margaret Weiss, and you will feel sadness and sobriety after reading Aurora's Eggs by Douglas Niles and Through the Door at the Top of the Sky by that cunning storyteller Roger E. Moore. There are countless books in the Dragonlance series, and numerous short story collections therein, but this one shines as a fine example of the setting and the skills of the authors who dream there.

A Good Collection 30 Mar 2003
By "roddymccorley" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Dragons at War is a good read compared to some of the other Dragonlance collection books. Obviously the book focuses on stories involving dragons. Some of the authors are better than others, particularly Mark Anthony and Douglas Niles. A couple of the stories surprised me with their sudden developments, which is a good trick in a short story. This collection includes stories that involve character groups from all over - Solamnic Knights, minotaurs, Dragon army forces, and an evil Gnome for good measure.
