5.0 out of 5 stars Move over, Chuckie, there's a new doll in town! 14 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
J.C. Martin's THE DOLL is a delightfully creepy novelette and a must-read for any horror lover.

Joyce Parker and her daughter journey to Mexico's Island of the Dolls. If the hanging dolls weren't scary enough, the dark altar to a drowned child will, at least to Joyce. Her daughter is delighted with the dolls and wants to take one for her own. Unfortunately for Joyce and her family, the horror is just beginning.

THE DOLL may be a quick read, but it packs a punch in the horror world. Every word is necessary for this complete tale. The characters are well-rounded. The dark spiritual overtones bring goose bumps to my arms and make me cast a wary eye towards dolls. I love how the story unfolded from mysterious and strange in the beginning to downright horrific at the end. It's truly a story best read in the daytime, if you want to sleep at night.

Move over, Chuckie, a new doll is in town and you won't want to miss reading J.C. Martin's THE DOLL.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect Horror story for a stormy night! 26 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The Doll by J.C. Martin

Joyce Parker and her daughter go to The Island of the Dolls in Mexico for a vacation. But what Joyce finds there is bizarre and creepy. There are hundreds of dolls all rotting and disgusting hanging from the trees. But Joyce's daughter falls in love with one particular doll, and she decides to let her "pick" it from the tree. What happens after that seems unreal to Joyce and she finds that Urban Legends may not be just that.

I love a great creepy, scary story and The Doll was a great read. My only complaint, it was too short! For those who love horror/spooky stories this book is for you. I would love to read more by J.C. Martin.

The Doll, a novelette by J.C Martin, is a creepy and sinister read.

A mother and her daughter take a trip to The Island of Dolls, an island surrounded by hanging dolls, dedicated to a drowned child.
The story begins mysteriously, as you read on the suspense just builds and builds, leading to a very unexpected and sinister ending.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves horror. Or anyone who i a fan of not being able to sleep at night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nicely paced! 3 Oct 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A short tale, but the story moves along very nicely.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a creepy supernatural suspense tale.
It Is quite short but there are a couple of nice twists.
I will look out for more of this author's books.
Hopefully they will be a bit longer without losing any of the suspense!

This is decent short story, a novelette basically.
I thought it built up quite nicely, was quite suspenseful and the ending was good. It was creepy more than outright horror.
I find dolls quite sinister anyway (the old fashioned ones),so this was the kind of story I knew I would enjoy.

Well worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short but scary, well worth a read! 14 July 2014

This is quite a short tail, but worth a read. It's based on a real place I'd seen on TV only a couple of weeks earlier. I had no idea the book was about this place, so it was a nice surprise.
You'll be wary of dolls from now on I bet !

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad but not great
The ending was expected, could a bit more scarier. However, I would recommend this to maybe a 10 year old.
