Purchased this book after having a very expensive week at the vets when my pup was unlucky enough to suffer two unrelated ailments within days. I was hoping for something that I could consult with basic symptoms and get advice and possibly avoid an unnecessary trip to the vets.. This is more of a dictionary of terms but the clue is in the title I suppose and I should have read the detail more clearly! That said, its not the type of book I was wanting as you need to know the problem (& its medical name!) before you can get any useful information. Had I realised this I wouldn't have bothered.

This is an excellent reference book for all dog owners. Every dog owner should have one when owning one of these beautiful, intelligent animals. It is very easy to find the article you want help on - it is like a dictionary. It is clearly written and easy to follow and really should be part of the dog owner's library of self help books. It does not mean that you should not consult a Vet, but this book is a useful one to have. I thoroughly recommend this book.
