Another great release from this damn fine unit. Really, i love this album. The playing is superb and the production is excellent, capturing that old school feeling but with a modern sound. The drums sound natural and not clinical like a lot of bands these days. Great guitar playing throughout, the whole album just flows. I am proud that these are British and and look forward to seeing them live at some point. Well done lads!!

Another solid offering from a decent band. Unfortunately it's not quite as distinctive or memorable as their breathtaking "Ghost of Heritage" or "Mercian Sphere" offerings, but it's pleasant to listen to. It is definitely worth adding to your collection, just don't expect to find individual songs looping round your head like "Mam Tor", "Defending the realm" (and so on) would have done from the first two albums. In this respect, it's much like their third offering, "The Threnody of Triumph". There are, however, a couple of atmospheric and melodic tracks that provide fleeting echoes of the first two albums, and I'm sure with time, I will grow to like this and the previous album as much as the first two.

As usual, if you love history, mythology or folklore, and you love the land, focusing on the lyrics themselves will whisk you away in true Winterfylleth style and leave you satisfied yet wanting more.

Top notch black metal! 4 Dec 2014
By brjoro - Published on Amazon.com

First review huh? That's too bad! The new cd from this English black metal band is a triumph! They are not reinventing the wheel but they do the epic/folk/post-rock/black metal mix as well as anyone. Great blast beats, wonderful guitar riffs, intense vocals, it's all here. My one complaint with this is that maybe some of the songs are a touch too long, but overall this is great stuff. If you like Agalloch, Wolves in the Throne Room et al. this should be right up your alley. Highly recommended!
