Book Description

3 Oct 2008

Diversity issues and the need to understand, and if necessary, change underlying attitudes has become increasingly important for organizations in the aftermath of domestic and global events. This timely new edition provides a practical approach to dealing with this sensitive and vital issue. From one of the authors of the highly successful Equal Opportunities Handbook, this new edition is updated to include new chapters on facilitating diversity training and the management of black and minority ethnic staff, as well as information on the new Equality and Human Rights Commission.

The book provides clear guidelines for dealing with issues including stereotyping, prejudice, racism, sexism, ageism and disability and contains information and advice on appropriate techniques to help bring about attitudinal change.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must! 29 July 2003
Format:Paperback
This book is exactly what it says it is, a practical guide. It is an easy to read guide that deals with many issues from making the case for diversity, designing training and dealing with the challenges and issues in the area of diversity, and many more - an essential tool for a trainers kitbag. Every trainer should have one.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok - but a bit technical and UK-specific 14 Jan 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book is good as it gets into practical detail and does not stay at high-level statements.
On the other hand, there is a bit of 'formality', refering to laws and regulations as if this is a 'reason' to do something that should appeal to the people to be reached ... and that's not logical to me. Could be sharper and clearer.
This also get s through to the 'Setting up Training' part could be more hands-on, it is very much a process thing and not as directly applicable as you would hope.
All in all a good one, but a bit stuck doing several things and nothing 100%

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for collecting new ideas! 28 Oct 2009
By User_S2 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
this book is easy to read and to collect some new ideas. A good approach for some people, who want to know many things about diversity, but as a training handbook, I would say No. The word "training handbook" has only a marketing effect!
