Eddie Murphy stars as small-time con man Thomas Jefferson, who decides that politics is where the big money is. Running for senator in place of a recently-deceased candidate with the same name, Jefferson heads for Washington with a few of his con-artist pals as staff, and soon stirs up Congress with his money-making schemes.

The concept of the film is good. A con artist, Murphy decides to become a United States congressman and play the game, only to find out that the issues involved are not a game. He becomes a person who cares and make things right. Eddie Murphy was nicely placed as he handles the entire transformation remarkably well.
If you are interested in politics and like genuine comedy, you won't be disappointed.

Murphy plays a charming con man who swindles his way into Congress through voter inattention -- they think he's the incumbent, who is actually deceased. What starts as a game to merely soak the job for all it's worth turns into an unlikely effort to make a real difference. Several scenes are laugh-out-loud, particularly early on. Though a shade overlong, the story is engaging enough to keep the viewer's attention, and it serves up some nice potshots at how bloated and self-serving government has become.

Distinguished Gentleman is a film comparable to tading places but without the corny ending. This film showsa up U.S politics in a startling way. The serious message of the film is greatly set aside with a lot of humur arising from Murphy. A nice movie.

this is an excellent film and of course Eddie Murphy is brilliant as always, its about him being a con man and not making much money, so looking for ways to make more, he then finds out the biggest con is if you are working for the president, so as you can imagine after getting elected he discovers how bad things really are and everything is done to line there own pockets, but he falls for a woman and that changes everything, i'm not going to give anymore away, but its funny and you should buy it especially if your a fan of Eddie Murphy.

Eddie Murphy is undoubtedly really had mastered his craft in comdedic acting in the hay day of the 80's. This is a film we can all relate to. I"ll Probaby going to watch it later.

A clever interpretation in the world of corruption in government.

Great film! Eddy Murphy at his best! Really funny at the beginning and a bit slow at the end but I enjoyed it!
