3.0 out of 5 stars one out of three not bad for a tenner... 18 Aug 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
Having enjoyed the Tour this year, I wanted some dvd footage of Lance/previous tours/sprints etc. Bought this three dvd set as it seemed a bargain at twelve quid... and it IS really... the review of his seven wins has some great stuff, but the 'science' of LA I'd already seen on Discovery a couple of years ago, and 'the man behind' is a really cheap show from the Biography Channel with no new footage or photos. But, as I say, seeing that the review dvd is something like a tenner on its own, you may as well give this a go!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lance Armstrong DVD review 28 Sep 2010

This 3 DVD set is excellent value for money, to buy the main 7-in -a-row DVD would cost far greater than this whole set. If your into cycling this DVD set is very informative and makes excellent viewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent 6 Sep 2010
The documentary is very good with interviews from his friends and family would have been even better if they had a few interviews with competitors but as Armstrong wasn't known for being gracious its no surprise!

The 7 wins of the tour could have also done with a bit more profiling of his main competitors to put Armstrong's wins in context. Also the quick cutting seemed to put the years of each tour in to a blur and difficult to distinguish from though it was good that they looked at the drug taking in the sport including the allegations against him. The fact that Armstrong beat competitors by significant margins makes this thrilling viewing no matter who you are, its just great seeing him accelerate and leaving competitors behind! Also very pleased the original channel 4 commentary was retained and not ruined by a post production 'pro lance' team as some of these sport dvd's tend to end up like.

The science was the best of the dvd's as it explains the way a team rides together the almost chess like strategy and the ends with which teams go to put seconds between competitors, the effect of his weight loss on his climbing ability, explanations of his lung capacity and heart power, etc, etc. As someone starting to get in to cycling this proved the most interesting.

Overall this was actually better than I thought and excellent for the crazy price on amazon, throughly recommend
