The Disconnection does not dissapoint at all. I have TFBM , thought it was excelent, but this is even better. I guess there must be many bands/performers in the music industry that do not get the credit and airplay they deserve - pity. I'm lucky I listen to what I like, not what the record industry thinks I should like, so for those people that like manufactured rubbish (and there is some good, don't get me wrong), then it's a crying shame people don't get to listen to real music like this.
Keep writing and playing live the way Carina Round does and the music industry will have no choice but to take notice. eventually!
If you love music & want something to listen to that is exceptionally well put together and a rewarding experience order it now.
it opened my eyes to jazz, to that amazing voice and the emotion- i havent heard an artist with so much passion for a long long time, female singers seem to stay in the 'singer-more songwriter' box, clever lyrics with an okay voice. however carina round made you notice that not only did she actually write some really amazing lyrics but her voice was more an instrument than something to follow the music in the background
this album is very different from the first album, but please dont let that put you off, i dont see it as carina changing her style but just an extension of her music, it more produced but this doesn't mean that it's another 'over hyped over produced shoved a electric guitar solo' kind of record it's no avril...
it's damn near raw as it can get,
there are more intruments used on this record and that i love because it gives carina the most amazing chances t let her voice shine-the way she sings again will make you wish you were live in the studio-the electricity could power my cd player alone.
favourite lines,
'smoked your ciggarette, coz your lips had touched it'
'i coudl die here and never be found out'
reminds me so much of that tortured feeling that lost love or perhaps unrequited love can have, i dont think that album is about love-to be honest it reminds me of the reinvention of goldfrapp's black cherry, it's a sexy little album very honest very raw
and it's an album i could play repeatedly, i dont think it loses effect in the length of the album, i actually think it's a damn good length-makes me want more-what i did notice is that as the songs progress you reconise carinas voice more-as the debut album
in short, this album is by far one of the best i've heard-it's sooooo different, so raw and new i cant egt enough i cant believe that yet again she's made an album that is sooo different yet so good.
of the albums currently on realese i would compare this album to 'goldfrapp-black cherry' for it's raw-ness and lyrics, 'Coralfang-the distillers' although it's not a punk album i think that carina and brody have the same electrity in there voices, i also think that is you like, the wild side to Heather nova-particully ouster, and the darkness of PJ Harvey you will no doubt love this.
even still it's a damn good album, it needs to be listened!
