Product Description

Review

The Nine Dimensions of the Soul is written in a beautifully simple, insightful and heartful way and transmits complex material in a way that is easy to read and understand. Also, it is a welcome addition to the literature on the enneagram by integrating the 'Essence Work' of A. H. Almaas and Faisal Muqaddam with the traditional understanding of the nine aspects of the enneagram. Thomas O. Trobe, MD Psychiatrist and Founder and Director of Learning Love Seminars, Inc.

Product Description

Many people are familiar with the Enneagram, a description of personality types. Many are increasingly familiar with Essence, meaning qualities of being, a rapidly developing field in modern psychology. "9 Dimensions of the Soul" is the first book to relate the two, understanding the personality types of the Enneagram in relation to the Essence. It integrates, in a direct practical way, the spiritual and psychological dimensions of the Enneagram. In doing so, it sheds a new light on our personality, its origins and how it operates, presenting an accurate map of our inner and outer self, our personality and our inner being. It shows how these two dimensions are connected, and how they hold the key to our personal transformation and to fulfilling couple relationships. It functions equally well on a broader social scale, revealing new insights into how organizations and countries actually function.

This unusual book touches two very interesting topics for me in a very insightful way: essence work and enneagram. It is very well organized throughout the different chapters. I mostly enjoyed the different approachs to every type that provided me with a good knowledge of the various type profiles from a number of angles like those related to leadership and organizations, weak and healthy points of each type, or even, the very amusing, country types.

It is a highly readable book to which you can come back and again, finding new discoveries each time. The author has been very skilled into bringing together all these aspects regarding enneagram types that help compare and better understand the implications and healing grounds for essence work.

I highly recommend it!

I first learned about enneagram in a psychology course that I took. This ancient personality typing essentially places all people within nine personality categories. There are a number of parallels that relate to the results such as archetypes, specific personality traits, important incidents in childhood, colors, passions, and fixations. It's really quite fascinating.

With that said, the most interesting thing about enneagram is its accuracy. I have never seen a more accurate description, chillingly so. Used for personal understanding of the self and personal growth, it is an amazing tool.

When I saw The 9 Dimensions of the Soul, I had to have it. This book does a very good job of presenting the various aspects of the original enneagram system. Then, the author adds an additional layer to this information through connecting particular essences to each personality type. This only strengthens the potential use of this system as a means for self understanding.

I found the author's insights on looking at leadership and organizations from the perspective of the enneagram excellent. It appears that David Hey has an unusual gift in bringing insights from the understanding of the enneagram to bear on the dynamics of organisations and as anyone knows who has worked in organisations the experience is not always easy, and can benefit from better understanding of how to make it a good and more harmonious experience. I expect that when the author works with organisations from the perspective of the enneagram he leaves behind a happier and better functioning organisation.
