I read the first edition of this book when I was 11 or 12 and I am now 22. It was one of my favourite books growing up and it presented me with essential facts and advice on everything from puberty to contraception. By using the diary of a teenage boy - Peter, the book amusingly takes you through the ups and downs of Peter's teenage life whilst giving the reader all the essential advice on health, safe sex and other issues that they could need. The information given is responsible yet frank and is written in a way that any young teenager, male or female can understand. Although the book may seem a little explicit in detail in parts it does not encourage young sex - just gives the facts and health advice in a teenage friendly way.
I would recomend this book to parents who want to teach their teenage children the real facts of life in an interesting, responsible (the book is written by doctors) and yet amusing manner. In a world where too many children learn their sex education from the playground this is essential reading.
