Format: Audio CD
Now I'm not sure if the movie was the best or worst film I've seen this year. It was raw, bloody, brilliantly filmed and extremely disturbing, but the soundtrack was absolutely fabulous. Every song fitted the mood and the scene brilliantly. So, with no UK release in sight for the CD, it was off to America to hunt down a copy.
And it's just as good in isolation. Interspersed with dialogue clips, each song vividly recreates the movie, which means I can never listen to "Rock On" by David Essex again! But away from the cheese, there's heaps of classic seventies guitar rock from the Allman Brothers, The James Gang, Joe Walsh, Elvin Bishop and Lynyrd Skynyrd. In fact, I can't listen to "Freebird" anymore without visualising the finale. There's also two outstanding tracks from Terry Reid - Jimmy Pages 1st choice for Led Zeppelin, fact fans.
There's also a healthy dose of vintage country with Buck Owens coming out tops with the sheer madness of "Satan's Got To get Along Without Me" and Otis Rush pops up to play the blues. It's also one of those new fangled dual disc doodahs, so when you bung it t'other way round in a DVD player you get a high reslotion mix of the album, a 20 minute making of feature, trailers and a photo gallery.
The Parental Warning is there for a very good reason, as the dialogue can be extremely fruity, so you may not want to give this to a young un;, but for the rest of us, this is as good as it gets for a motion picture soundtrack, a 5 star feast.

Like the previous review the film is so-so and in many respects a nasty piece of work which may or may not be intentionally rubbish.
But the soundtrack is absolutely brilliant and in particular the tracks by Terry Reid. I had not heard of him before and now have bought everything that he has available on Cd - one of the great voices and has an emotional range that Robert Plant could never match.
Although Reid is the stand out on this the rest isn't bad either with a classic Allman Brothers ramble and Joe Walsh and the good old chesnut Free Bird and its out of tune slide guitar.
The album as an import comes with a double side CD/DVD for all those into DVD audio.
Buy this and then buy Terry Reid!

Absolutley amazing disc! Dual Disc is the way forward. You get the fantastic soundtrack for your CD player, with snippets of dialogue from the movie then flip it over pop it in your DVD player & hey presto 5.1 Dolby sound & trailers, TV Spots & best of all a 20min making of Devils Rejects documentary. And before you think 'oh got that on the special edition DVD', think again it's a different one! Love it Love it Love it!

This is such a wicked albumn, this is the second time I've bought it as I lent it to someone and never got it back the first time, I forgot how brilliant it is, the only drawback I'd say is that it has clips from the movie on every other track, they're cool clips but it would just be good to be able to listen to the music without having to skip tracks.

Ok, the film seems to polarise people. I loved it! but I chose to buy the straight sound track as I loved the music as well and didn't wanna have to skip obscenities while in the car (3&9 year old). Awesome, don't read reviews! Buy it!
