This is the 14th in the series -
It's amazing Susanna Gregory can write so many books with more or less the same characters and keep them so fresh and interesting.
Again set in Cambridge in the 1350's the town is polarised into two factions. Those for God and those who believe God let them down during the black death. Those of the latter persuasion are dabbling in the occult when there arises a Sorcerer with powers beyond what the normal practitioners have.
Matthew Bartholemew, our star medical practioner, is identified by some as the Sorcerer, and again he and brother Michael are drawn where they would rather not go.
Brilliantly written and again keeping you guessing to the very end, before the solution is revealed.
If you like Medieval mysteries, you'll certainly like this.
Very highly recommended.
