Product Description

From the Back Cover

If success in business was as simple as following the commandments laid down over the last few hundred years then why aren’t all businesses created equal?

The simple truth is that the winners are bending the rules that the rest of us so diligently follow. Their willingness to go against the grain, take short cuts and challenge conventional wisdom is what makes them stand out, get noticed and grab the advantage.

And it’s that unconventional, sometimes counterintuitive wisdom that this book offers. It doesn’t have all the answers (who does?) and it will not make you a millionaire. But it will sharpen your maverick mind and challenge you to think twice before you follow the received wisdom.

It will hone your instincts so that you can spot the opportunities the rest of the frenzied herd just galloped past, avoid the pitfalls others merrily plunge into and give you the courage to carve your own path to business success.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Whirlwind of Fresh Air! 26 Mar 2013
I stumbled across this little book a few months ago and it has revolutionised the way I am now running my business. It's fair to say that the business has been in a rut for about the last three years barely moving above our established customer or even product base, and although I'd heard the phrase `Innovation' till I was sick of it, I didn't actually know how to make `Innovation' happen! I gave a copy of this book to every board director and manager in the company and what followed was a tidal wave of creativity and attitude change that took me by complete surprise! Even in this last few months the book has literally changed the way people are thinking around solutions and new opportunities. There's an air of excitement and commitment in the business that I haven't seen for a number of years too, which as an owner gives me probably more pleasure than anything else.

The book basically turns convention on its head and uses the results as a routemap for gaining business advantage and maintaining it in today's manic environment. Sure, there are still problems, but if you're looking for something to release more of the potential within people then it's definitely worth the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy read with plenty food for thought 7 April 2013
By William Lowden - Published on
As with his 'From Acorns' which I read a few years back, this is done with a light touch, but there is a lot of good sense in here. A lot of the entries appear essentially to be common sense but if you think about them in relation to your own business there is plenty of food for thought. It's a quick read but I finish a lot of business books because I think I ought to - with this one I wanted to.
