“His Books have had a life-enhancing impact on millions of people” THE TIMES

Product Description

A new novel from Paulo Coelho, author of The Alchemist.

A stranger arrives in the small mountain village. He carries with him a backpack containing a notebook and eleven gold bars.

Burying these in the vicinity, the stranger strikes up a curious friendship with a young woman from the village – Miss Prym. His mission is to discover whether human beings are essentially good or evil.

In this stunning novel, Paulo Coelho’s unusual protagonist sets the town a moral challenge from which they may never recover. A fascinating meditation on the human soul, The Devil and Miss Prym illuminates the reality of good and evil within us all, and our uniquely human capacity to choose between them.

different.... 5 Mar 2007
Format:Paperback
I read this one after the alchemist and veronika decides to die so it was a very different read. I found it quite long winded in places and it dragged a bit but definately full of shocks and it does make you think alot about how you can react to situations in life. Its worth a read, as with all his books but everyone will have their own favourites. This wouldnt be mine....

One of my favourites 12 April 2009
Format:Paperback
Out of all of the books this for me is the best. It explores the morals of humanity, the struggles between right and wrong. The reader is thrust into the world of Miss Prym, a barmaid with little prospects in a secular community. A meeting with a mysterious traveller is about to change all of that. A great reward for a terrible exploit, who will be tempted? I wasn't able to put the book down until I had read it from cover to cover.

Beautifully laid plot, elements of paganism, druidism, christianity and spirituality all intermeshed into the world of Paulo Coelho.

Loved the book which sets a moral dilema and then resolves it via an interesting story although the outcome seems obvious it keeps you reading just to see if you agree. Read more
