When she travels to the English countryside to meet her brother’s fiance, she finds herself in a surprising predicament. Emilia is suddenly torn between the attentions of two men: bookish Arthur Rochefort and rakish Brittley Christian.

Sensuality Level: Moderate

Author’s Note: The Demure Debutante features Edward & Willow, two characters from The Wanton Widow. However, the focus is now on Edward’s younger sister, Emilia.

The Demure Debutante - A Regency Novella
This is the only novella I have failed to finish reading because of the poorly written characters, the boring story & the inaccurate tone of the Regency period. Even if the heroine is not attractive looking she could at least be portrayed as having something interesting about her & at least some conversation!!
Don't bother buying this it gives no flavour of the Regency period or amusing or interesting characters it is just very dull & boring. Cayley McQueen is most definitely no Georgette Heyer or even on par with some American authors even taking into account their inaccuracies about the English countryside flora & fauna, Regency period food & language of the time. Authors such as Andrea Pickens, Shannon Donnelly & Candice Hern are at least better writers with amusing stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute. 13 Jan 2014

I gave it 4 stars b/c it would of been awesome as a novel. It was a very cute love story, at least between the supporting characters. The relationship between the heroine and her beau was not developed but you could see the potential. It is too bad that she didn't flesh it out but it was entertaining nonetheless.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun regency era book. scandal, romance, elegance and adventure!! 9 Jan 2014

This book is a fun read. couldn't put it down. I adore emillia. It was such a great book. It is so refreshing to read a regency that is original. Such a great plot line filled with scandal, redemption, bawdy mothers and rogues. I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with Arthur right along with the character

Very Sweet story. I loved it. I know that anyone who would read it would love it too. It was not too deep and flowed along easily.

I enjoyed this story be caused it followed up with the main characters from "The wanton widow." I enjoyed the characters and the story. Would of liked the story to be longer, but it is a novella.

Very cute, short romance. Emailie and Arthur are in love but Arthur does not realize the true depth of his feelings till she is leaving. She is and always has been a wallflower. It is nice to see a wallflower win the heart of the handsome man!
