Book Description

Breaking News! Carpe Demon (Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom book 1) optioned for television by Warner Brothers Television for the CW network with Alloy Entertainment producing)

When daughter Allie finds herself knee-deep in demons, Demon Hunter Kate Connor must come to the rescue in this first short story featuring not only Kate, but fourteen year old Allie, too! (This story was originally published in Those Who Hunt Monsters, published by Edge Books in 2011)

**Bonus! Contains an excerpt from Julie Kenner's award-winning novel, The Cat's Fancy**

About the series: The Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom series features Kate Connor, a retired demon hunter and mom of two forced back into business when a demon crashes through her kitchen window. CARPE DEMON (book 1) hit multiple bestseller lists and is currently in development as a feature film with 1492 Pictures.

Praise for Carpe Demon: "This book, as crammed with events as any suburban mom's calendar, shows you what would happen if Buffy got married and kept her past a secret. It's a hoot."
—New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris

"What would happen if Buffy the Vampire Slayer got married, moved to the suburbs and became a stay-at-home mom? She'd be a lot like Kate Connor, once a demon/vampire/zombie killer and now "a glorified chauffeur for drill-team practice and Gymboree play dates" in San Diablo, Calif., that's what. But in Kenner's sprightly, fast-paced ode to kick-ass housewives, Kate finds herself battling evil once again.
-- Publishers' Weekly

"I loved Carpe Demon! Ninety-nine percent of the wives and moms in the country will identify with this heroine. I mean, like who hasn''t had to battle demons between car-pools and playdates?"
-- New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't do book reviews ..... 22 Dec. 2014

I don't do book reviews........ I read the book and if I liked it I give it up to 5 stars, if I didn't then it gets a 2, if I didn't finish then it's a 1, that's it I'm afraid.

I read it, I like it, I want more from the author.

As with a vast number of Kindle books there might be the odd spelling and punctuation errors.
After reading well over 300 Kindle books of all types and subjects you get use to them and they become less noticeable, unless they effect the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yea! She is Back! 5 July 2012

After reading Demon Ex Machina in 2009 and not seeing any future books on the horizon, I had resigned myself to the fact that this much-loved author was done and there would be no more Kate Conner and the curious town of San Diablo. Much to my delight, Julie Kenner has moved into the world of self-publishing, and with this short story offering and a new book to be published later this year, Kate and her daughter Allie have a new life so to speak.

This teaser falls somewhere between books four and five and has teenage Allie is trying to flex her wings a bit. Quickly realizing that just because her mother is a Demon hunter and she has been practicing her self-defense arts, does not mean that she is able to take on a sneaky devil and protect both herself and her friends.

I love this series, just picture Buffy the Vampire Slayer all grown up with a teenage daughter and a young son who is trying to keep the evil world at bay and having dinner on the table at six. With shock and humor, Kate and her curious band of hunters keep their small town safe no matter what comes crawling out of the panty during a cocktail party.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little taste of Kate 26 Jan. 2013

I miss Kate and her demon hunting ways. So this was a great little tease before the next book (which has been a very long time coming) I like seeing Allie come into her own as a demon hunter and her finding out that what her mom does isn't easy. She got a good taste of what it's like to have to fight a demon and now maybe she'll listen to her mother more.

This was a cute little insight into the world of Kate, demon hunting mom. Allie, her teenaged daughter, wants to be a demon hunter so bad, but is impatient about having to wait until she is ready. A bad night at a party, and a run in with a demon she isn't ready to handle, puts Allie in her mom's shoes. I like this series, and will definitely read more.

This was a really good short story. Actually wish it had been longer. And I just knew the daughter was going to get in trouble! Will definitely read more of these.
