From the Back Cover

The Demi-Monde is a virtual cyber-world, originally created to train soldiers in urban warfare. But as the layers of deceit are peeled back it is revealed to be much, much more. Norma Williams has discovered the terrible secret that lies behind the creation of the Demi-Monde. If she is to save the Real World, she must enlist the help of the beautiful but wayward concubine Fresh Bloom Dong E to escape the Forbidding City and to destroy the terrible weapon threatening the survival of all those living in the virtual hell that is the Demi-Monde... and the Real World. Even as Norma fights to save the Real World, the Demi-Monde itself is sliding deeper into chaos. Lilith and Reinhard Heydrich are vying for ultimate power, and the only way their evil can be defeated is if the dissolute fraudster Vanka Maykov can discover who he really is - and find the strength to destroy the woman he loves. The Demi-Monde:J Summer is the third book in this rumbustious, thrilling adventure: a whirligig ride that will leave you gasping for more!

Another cracking read here from Mr Rees.

The book follows on seamlessly from winter and spring. Rods play on words is again out of this world and into the cyber reality that is the Demi Monde. There is plenty of humour to be found in this book and the series especially in summer, the quips at the beginning of each chapter can be truly laugh out loud. All of the usual characters are there and I can see it being a real rollercoaster ride up to the end of the eagerly awaited book The Demi Monde Fall. As you would imagine lots of new characters have also been added to the series as we take a virtual journey around the Demi Monde and its just breath-taking the imagination that Mr Rees must have. I wouldn't recommend reading this book until you have read Winter and Autumn as I think you should devour those two books first. If you are into steampunk, Sci Fi, virtual reality, sex, violence, erotica, religion, humour, War and the odd vampire added to spice things up then The Demi Monde series is definitely for you.

I hadn't read a book for quite a while but finished all three in the series like someone eating a "beef burger" at the gallop.

Cant wait till the Demi Monde Fall hits the shelves

And the fun and adventure continue with Summer, the third book in Rod Rees' quite wonderful Demi-Monde series. For starters though, let me advise that you read Winter and Spring (books 1 and 2 in the series) first because, believe me you will be completely and utterly lost. This is a series that rewards you for sticking with it by opening up a new area of the Demi-Monde with each new book - this being the third we visit the area known as The Coven (Rangoon, Tokyo and Beijing) as well as the places we visited in earlier episodes.

The usual characters are here, but there are a bunch of new "figures from history" again, half of the fun is wondering who will make an appearance next. If you've got this far really you'll know what to expect - the humour and clever wordplay once again running strong throughout.

With Summer things are slowly starting to come to a head, ready for Fall, the fourth and final book in this thoroughly entertaining series. All the major players are starting to show their hands, things in The Demi-Monde and The Real World may never be the same again. It's going to be down to a small group of heroes to save both worlds.

In short, rip-roaring, non stop action in a cyber reality and the real world. Don't miss this series, it's a real treat.

Four and a half stars

Spring was disappointing and a little too over the top, but the Rees reverts to form here to pick the series up. Unless you've done the first two there's no point reading this BUT having started, then flagged was seriously hanging out for the final book.
