5.0 out of 5 stars THE DEHUMANIZING PROCESS 19 Dec 2004
Format:DVD
This DVD of Chimaira is a must have for any die-hard CHIMAIRA fans, lots of cool stuff, RR must be impressed with this, coz i am, definetly, but it's a real shame that Andols wanted to leave the band, Chimaira have GONE through 3 drummers, fought illness, and english thugs, their album "The Impossibility of Reason" is fantastic and dare we say "classic" metal album. My opinion on the album is it's simply the best genre-defining album CHIMAIRA have released. Their next album i'm definetly getting.
Chimaira's vocalist Mark Hunter has written liner notes for the bonus EP "This Present Darkness" which almost makes the EP come complete, and also has 2 bonus tracks "Gag" and "Refuse To See", those are not included on the original release. The EP was originally on EAST COAST EMPIRE RECORDS but now it's been coveted by RR, the EP actually got the band signed to RR coz it was heavy and unrelenting. The title track and "Divination," "Lend A Hand" are great unheard songs to headbang to. No complaints about this, SUPERB!
The DVD on the other hand is brilliant, it's about a band trying to keep their sanity and a dream, it also captures the band recording "The Impossibility..." which is interesting, it has all the videos, brilliant, a show recorded live in Holland as part a of a ROADRAGE TOUR in 2003, it has band commentary and subtitles, too good!
Buy this DVD NOW! IT'S SOO GREAT FOR ALL US RR FANS, WELL WORTH THE CASH, ..

I was so happy when i found out and chimaira were making a dvd at last and even happier when i brought it and found that i'm IN IT ASWELL AT THE SIGNING AT TOWER RECORDS. anyways the dvd is the best music dvd i have seen yet. It really shows you an indepth look at the band and what its like to be in it
the dvd tells you chimairas story about all the ex members and the drummer probelms they have had lately. I found this dvd really funny too the bassist Jim lamarca is hilarious he sould have his own stand up show.
So, If you are a true fan of chimaira you will love this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Humanizing Viewing 8 Nov 2004
Format:DVD
How do they do it? How do they add another amazing release to their already stunning back catalogue?
This time it's a DVD with a skinful of extras, and a separate EP with bonus tracks too. Not only is it a live gig, not only does it have every one of the band's videos, but it has a whole 1 hour 30 minute documentary on the writing, preparation, recording, and touring of their most recent album; The Impossibility of Reason. It gets behind the scenes of everything that happened in the Chimaira camp, and gives you a real sense of touring on the road as one of metal's brightest and best bands. It also sheds light on the murky reasons as to why the band lost their second drummer, and what lead to Andols', their first drummer, descent out of the band.
Even if you're not a huge Chimaira fan this is still a very worthy purchase, if not only for the fact that it has so much more than your average band DVD. This is a proper 90 minute film on the band, a full on live assault, a whole EP now out of print and virtually impossible to find, and much more besides. if you don't buy it you're wasting it on something else.
