As the follow up to Brockmann's stunning first Troubleshooter novel, The Unsung Hero, The Defiant Hero defies all expectations. Moments after he finishes a training exercise that he was expected to fail, John 'Nils' Nilsson gets a totally unexpected call and finds himself aiding a woman he'd fallen in love with years before to get back her kidnapped daughter and grand-mother. From a start that sends your heart up into your mouth, the action travels non-stop through to a touching finish.
Although the romance in The Defiant Hero isn't vastly different in tone to that in the first book in the Troubleshooter series, it is very steamy and very believable. All three pairings that emerge in this book, Meg, the heroine, and Nils; Eve, the grandmother, and Roger, the man she fell for and tricked at the age of 15; and the stunning Alyssa Locke and Sam Starrett keep the heat of the passion running all the way through the novel.
The action is break-neck, the chase not slowing until the very last pages and continues the pace started in The Unsung Hero. This is a serious must-read for any fan of dazzling romance, tough, caring heroes, SEALs at that, and anyone that just loves a great read in general. Well worth buying and storming through immediately.
