As this book debunks practically every 20th century spirituality I thought the author had actually suppressed it himself in respect of his later eulogies of the likes of Blavatsky,Steiner and Ouspensky, but apparently not. Meanwhile I actually like the rascal s Miller and Watts and their "wisdom of irresponsibility".

There are very few authors who "must be read". This is one!(Funny that he mentions the occult; reminds me about my old previous life: didn't really go that well: I was changed into a FROG!!!!

Very interesting book 6 Aug. 2014

Very interesting book. I am a little concerned that accuracy is not at its best. He still writes that Manson auditioned for The Monkees which is unsupported historically. Another concern with this edition is that some portions were removed because they were deemed unnecessary or repetitious, but I can tell something is missing. Good for the additions in the appendix.
A must read for those that study the nineteen sixties 3 Jan. 2013

This is a well written work about many of the not-so-obvious influences on the counter-culture of tha 1960's and contains information about well known personalities of the time that I find fascinating. Anyone interested in the 1960's will surely enjoy this book.
