Product Description

Synopsis

This is a book about Decompression illness {DCI} (the so-called "diver's bends"). It talks in a new way, using plain English, of the latest in the physiology and physics that surround decompression with a dedicated chapter on women and decompression. It sheds some light for the diver on micro-bubble production, limitation and avoidance. It offers sound strategies for the avoidance of DCI. The author also deals with dive computers, and advanced diving techniques including: Nitrox, Trimix and Rebreathers and practical decompression in the real world. This is supported with chapters on planning, Risk Assessment, DCI recognition and DCI first Aid.

Simply explained 4 Aug 2004
Bob Coles book explains a complicated subject clearly. The reader will need a basic knowledge of diving theory to appreciate it fully, but as the book breaks the subject down clearly most divers will find it educational and not too hard going. I recommend the book to all my more diving trainees taking the more advanced courses, and instructors should read it to further their understanding of the subject.

Poor 14 Mar 2011
I got this book after it being recommended by a few people and I was extremely disappointed. It is not very professionally written and meanders along, not giving any real insight into decompression theory. There is no flow to this book -- each paragraph seems to be a stand-alone entity so it doesn't gradually build your knowledge like a good technical book should.

Deco for Divers (by Mark Powell Deco for Divers: Decompression Theory and Physiology) is a far superior book that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in decompression theory.
