5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING Comeback!! 12 Jun 2008
By Rixtacy
Format:Audio CD
One of the most Under-Appreciated artists in the business ASHANTI! She's been out of the music scene for 4 years, not out of choice but due to circumstances! In that time she's experienced many things, and has developed vastly, vocally, lyrically (she writes ALL of her Material!), sonically, she's upped her game to another level! The result of all this 'THE DECLARATION!' The way the tracks are arranged she tells a kind of story, which you get once you listen through!
The Tracks:

1.Intro-A good opening explains whats been going on, production is tiight!

2.The Way That I Love You-This song is just excellent, this track alone would be enough to make you buy the album! Starts with a mezmerising/haunting Piano playing...The Bass,The Lyrical Delivery, The Vocals, and The Production are all ON-POINT! She totally Nails this track 5/5

3.You're Gonna Miss-A track which is a sort of RnB/Pop mesh, very radio friendly, the kind of track you just wanna move to the beat, Very infectious! 4/5

4.So Over You-HOTTNESS! A Rodney (Darkchild) Jerkins track with killer up-tempo beats. Another track you wanna move to! 5/5

5.Stuggle-You can just feel this track wholeheartedly! You have to hear the full song to really appreciate it! It's really relatable for both men/women! Even though all the tracks are fire, this has to be a top fav without a doubt! Lyrically/Vocally consider it well and truely DELIVERED! 5/5

6.Girlfriend-I would deem this track solid RnB! Very sensual and seductive. Let's just say if someone was singing this to you (male perspective), you would make them your Girlfriend! Or if you were singing it to someone (female perspective) you would definately win someone over. It just has an effect on you! 5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars Laid Back, Mellow R&B 16 Oct 2012
By gone
Format:Audio CD
This is a very mellow R&B album with mid-tempo tracks that stray away from fast up-tempo club jams or party vibes. For the club junkie or dance fanatic, this is not quite that type of bouncy R&B funk. It's a very different sound as compared to her other albums so it was quite a surprise when I first listened to it. This 14-track Japan Import includes the bonus track "Hey Baby (After The Club)", lyrical booklet with words, and obi-strip - a definite bonus!

Featured artists are Nelly, Akon, and Robin Thicke. "Things You Make Me Do" 3:22 featuring Robin Thicke has a nice soothing laid back sensual style to kick back with your lover, or alone. If you enjoy candles, this is a great song to set the mood right. Ashanti's vocals seem improved and very soft on the ears as compared to other songs.

My favorite track is "Body On Me" featuring Nelly & Akon for it's electronica, rap, and hip-hop mesh. The beats are catchy, funky, and phenomenal. More songs like this would have been a "most definite" booster to feel uplifted or in the mood to dance. It's positive vibes, sexy undertones, and production are very appealing!

Another great song for those who like to snuggle with a lover or fantasize would be "Girlfriend" as it has references to how "I'd give all of me to you... I'd let you touch everything..." It was a bit too slow for my tastes. "The Way I Love You" has a more soulful rich sound --it's a "you and her" type song. Songs like "So Over You" were a much better style to show--giving better attitude, bouncy beats, and faster tempos [that would be my second favorite track].

A nice jam, [and my 3rd favorite] ,"You're Gonna Miss" has references to the heart aching, feeling weak, and wanting her lover back.

i like this album althoigh i do think ashanti is a better album. my fav tune is shine, the way that I love you is also really good. I think it could have been better having had some more feel good tunes that are upbeat. If your expecting this album to be as good as her last one you may be dissapointed. all in all quite a good album with a few hits on
