Owen starts with a distinct advantage over many business authors: he has great experience, he writes well, and he has original and strong opinions. This is a very good book and deserves its 5 star rating - if for no other reason than unlike most books after reading it I have actually started to do some things differently. All of the book is enjoyable, although not all chapters are as original and strong as others (the chapters on marketing and information I found less original) - but some, such as the chapters on strategy, power and money are very enlightening.
The only question I had in my mind is the title "The Death of Modern Management". It could equally well be called "The Birth of Modern Management" as it describes how management is and has to change - so yes one form of management is dying, but it is no part of Owen's hypothesis that management as a whole is dying - it is being reborn in a different form. However, this is probably a pedantic point, and I can see from a marketing perspective that a title with Death in probably sells better!!.
