Lonely the Brave, hailing from Cambridge, have been sitting on this album for a while and I think that's what makes this debut album such a fantastic experience for the listener. British rock music is starting to rise from the ashes with (at the time of writing) Royal Blood's album sitting atop the album chart - this is, in my opinion, better.

Dave's (vocals) lyrics are haunting at times and suggest he has gone through some hard times but as the album continues you see an element of hope riding throughout. The lyrics are purely his work and you can see the amount of effort that has gone into this.

The music? Phenomenal. Songs like "Call for Horses" and "The Blue, The Green" are pure stadium rock where as "Dinosaurs" and "Kings of the Mountain" show that this band isn't just all about the sound but have a more melodic sound too.

You will also find some absolute belters on here that will make you pound the tarmac on a run or get a lot work done, namely "Islands" and "Black Saucers".

As debuts go, I haven't heard better in a very long time.

Lonely the Brave are going places and if there is one album that you pick up and think "maybe" this one isn't it - this is one that you should think "definitely" - it's brilliant.

On a side note, if you have the opportunity to see this band live then do it. Fantastic.

Having recently extolled the virtues of Twin Atlantic it gives me great pleasure to eulogise about Lonely The Brave and this excellent album. As a previous reviewer states, British rock is undergoing something of a renaissance at the moment and this band deserves to be in the vanguard. With anthemic choruses, lyrically adept verses, driving rhythms and guitars everywhere, this is a tuneful, powerful and most rewarding album. Classic Rock magazine recently asked the question as to whether or not "rock" may be dying if not already dead. On this evidence and thanks to bands like Twin Atlantic, Biffy Clyro and Royal Blood there is still plenty of life in the old dog yet
