Buy This Album... 15 Jun 2007
Format:Audio CD
'Be careful listening to this debut pipebomb from Manc five-piece Profane. In just one song you'll be plunged through enough musical changes to sustain a lesser band through a whole album. But this isn't sonic hooliganism for its own sake; Profane's attention-deficit-rock is pitched perfectly for the emotional content of each track, and their ideas are uniformly fascinating: full-tilt lunging metal, soaring grunge, detuned jazzcore - it all makes blissful (non)sense when you give them the chance to take you on their journey. Great to hear a UK band pursuing their own vision rather than apeing more successful blueprints to the future.' Kerrang April 2006. KKKK

'vocalist Phil Bretnall is equally adept at metal snarls as he is at the most angelic crooning. Guitarist Luke Bhatia and the rest of Profane back him up with intricate jazzy riffs that compliment the melody of the vocals swapping effortlessly between real hardcore anger, progressive metal and chilled out funk. This is a debut of stellar proportions for a band that deserve proper recognition.' 8/10 Metal Hammer -March 2006

'Producing mellow jazz passages one moment, then segueing into rip-yer-face-off metal brutality the next, they sound like Soundgarden fighting Tool and Neurosis over who gets to play the instruments, and yet more than anyone they sound like themselves. ' subba-cultcha.com

'Whooooooooo, stop the bus, open the door, let me run around the block then jump back on with my head refreshed. This impresses from the off, this wont let me off the bus for breath, this demands I sit right back down in my damn seat and pay full attention - what a rush, and a Rush as well, they sound like (later period) Rush playing extreme metal with a clever hardcore edge.' Sean @ Organ-Zine www.organart.com

'Like the Mars Volta being masterminded by Sikth's Mikee; crazy, deranged, brutal, but at the same time melodic, soothing and thought provoking. Blindingly good.' 5/5 by Withard. www.rockmidgets.com

'Hearing the debut album from the Manchester based metallers I am optimistic, each song breaks down another genre barrier and opens the ears to a whole new breed of metal. The Day We Scorched the Sky is an epic album featuring grinding guitar riffs, heavy drum beats and melodic almost haunting vocals. This CD will be a permanent fixture in my play list for the foreseeable future.' Heather @ skratchthesurface.co.uk

Brilliant band 8 May 2006
Format:Audio CD
Any lovers of hardcore/metalcore need to hear this album, and they are a must see live band. These guys seriously know what they are doing, and as the last reviewer stated do not follow a trend.

The album as a whole gets a resounding 5 stars from me, and the future looks very bright. The gig they did with Life of Agony was outstanding :)

Get to a show and buy the album :)

I get the feeling this album is just a taste of the great things to come from this band.Despite the album only being fairly short you are given a taste of so many twists and turns that its hard to pidgeon hole Profane...which is surely a good thing. This album has everything, full steam ahead metal tracks to beautifully constructed mellower efforts and sometimes mixing both, and more,in one song!! Even the odd "jazzy" moment..awesome vocals and gutair melodies, insane drumming, beautiful baselines.....These are surely a UK band going places without copying any recent trends......You need to buy this........I was More than pleasently suprised........
