Book Description

Are you ready to light your guitar on fire with great solos?

If you’re interested in learning all of the techniques needed to learn pretty much any solo you can think of, and even make up your own, this is the book for you.

Once you have gone through the chapters, all you’ll need are the notes of the solo you want to learn in front of you (which are available for free on the internet) and the rest is up to you. Eventually, you won’t even need the notes, and you’ll find that you can figure out most solos simply by listening closely to the song.

This book is the key to developing that ability.

It makes no promises to make you a rock god, flashing out screeching solos until your guitar spontaneously bursts into flames, but it will lay out a straightforward, step by step method to teach you all of the techniques you will need in order to do it (with the exception of the fire). After that, what you learn and how quickly you learn it is up to you.

This is the second of the 5 Day Guitar Method books. It was written for the beginner, intermediate or advanced guitarist aiming to learn or improve their skills as a guitar soloist.

The first book is The 5 Day Guitar Method (For Beginners). Start with the first book if you are new to guitar. It includes everything from choosing the right guitar to easy-to-follow lessons on chords, riffs, solos, and tablature. It will get you playing guitar by the weekend.

Then dive into this book and let's see if we can light your guitar on fire!

3.0 out of 5 stars This short guide could lead you to solo 2 Oct. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is another short informational book that I picked up, while it was free, to help me in my quest to become an accomplished guitarist. This book is fairly well written and the illustrations display well on the kindle reader, a huge plus, but some of the captioning shows up on incorrect pages and doesn't correct itself, even with font changes. In addition, it seems some illustrations show a "nut like" representation yet are labeled "5th fret" etc.. This could be a little confusing to those who are beginners.

Perhaps the biggest issue and, excuse me in advance if I am wrong, appears to be that the second pentatonic scale pattern was not included and pattern five was shown in its place. That causes the patterns to mate incorrectly and could cause real problems and confusion for those just learning them.

Although the book covers the basics, it leaves out or barely mentions things like finger numbering or proper finger placement when barring chords.

Wow, it sounds like I'm beating the daylights out of this one, but that's not my intent--so don't give up on it without giving it a try. You'll miss out on some helpful info if you do.

Because of the aforementioned problems and idiosyncrasies, I have to give this one three stars for now. Hopefully the author will make some changes so the book becomes a five star read.

A simple and well-written explanation of the basics. Beginners should find it most helpful. We should see more like this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book for motivated beginners 23 April 2014
By Matt B. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This book does a nice job of explaining the Pentatonic scale, tablature and some basic techniques that will help get a new player started quickly. When a friend and I taught each other to play guitar (we read different books and then swapped knowledge) we would have really loved having something like this to refer to. I think that someone with a little desire and some experience running the guitar actually would be able to start on a Monday and be playing some basic solos by the time the weekend rolled around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Getting to the heart of the matter 22 Jan. 2014

While I have played 6 string and base off and on for a number of years, this little book brought me to an understanding that I had not figured out before. The concepts were simple but provided a new way of learning to solo. I am grateful for the energy put into the book.
